Meet The Flight Team

We continue our blog series on our amazing photo and flight team here at Aerial Innovations of TN, Inc. Read past posts about Lynse Watkins, Cheyanne & Bonnie. And stay tuned for posts about the rest of our team. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

This week meet our fearless leader, Wendy Whittemore aka Flight Commander. She took to the skies with Aerial Innovations of GA, Inc. over Atlanta in 2000, moved to Nashville in 2003 and has never looked further than her local airport for adventure.

Explain your role at Aerial Innovations.

My title pretty much explains what I do, everything from sales to photography to developing our ever changing systems. Flight Commander seemed to sum up having your eye on all controls all the time.

What is most fascinating about working for Aerial Innovations?

Watching the flight crew (our staff,) change, learn and grow. This is a team sport where we all have to work together. I am excited about the All-stars we have right now.

What is your favorite part about your specific role with Aerial Innovations?

I learn new things all the time. New technology is changing all of our industries and the only way to keep up is learn and educate.

Explain the teamwork environment at Aerial Innovations.

Since day one, it has been all about our client and getting them the best images. We never set preferential treatment for our photographers and have a great system that produces consistent results. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

Give a few sentences about yourself before you started working at Aerial Innovations

I’ve been all around this world, baby!! After graduating with a BA in Photography from the University of Dayton (go Flyers!) I started my traveling early; living in New York City & Korea, traveling to southeast Asia and south America. I started doing aerial photography in 2000 in Georgia then Tennessee & Kentucky and have never looked back.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I still have a great passion for photography and curating. My husband and I travel as much as we can. Mostly we are just hanging out at our house in East Nashville.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10? Professionally & otherwise!

Working on this great company and brand! We hope to expand our coverage area and incorporate drones in the next 5 years and in 10 years, & who knows what innovation and technology will throw at us next. (thank goodness it’s in our name!)

Who is your favorite role model…in photography or otherwise.

For my career, everything changed once I started working with the Aerial Innovations team. Sheri Christianson (GA) taught me all I know, and Colette (FL) has been a great mentor as we have continued to grow. My husband is also my role model who teaches me patience, good character and humility.
